The Mission at Anderson Transfer is to provide the best possible products and moving services to our customers in a courteous, honest, fair and efficient manner. Anderson Transfer is a family-owned and operated business helping families move for over 65 years.
In 1954, Sam Anderson, Brady’s Uncle, opened Anderson Transfer as an agent for NorthAmerican Van Lines in Sumter, SC. He started his moving business with just a van and a box truck. Our first facility was a subdivided 3000sq ft warehouse in Sumter, SC. Over the next 50 years, Sam expanded and moved twice to bigger facilities. By 2001 we had 2 warehouses, nearly 12,000sq of storage space, over 20 employees and 15 units of equipment.
In 1956, Brady’s Grandfather opened another Anderson Transfer in Myrtle Beach. After 30 years of operating, he handed the reigns to Brady’s father Mike Anderson. Around 1986, Mike bought a parcel of land and built a new facility in myrtle beach. In early 2002, Mike Anderson purchased and merged Anderson Transfer of Sumter and Myrtle Beach.
In 2005, another mover in Florence, SC wanted to retire and Mike bought the assets and rights from him for that moving company. He bought another moving company in Sumter called Harkins Moving And storage and moved to that facility which has more space for expansion and a scale for weighing.
In 2010, Brady graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business and started his journey into the family business at the Myrtle Beach location. He had grown up moving furniture during the summer and on breaks from school but, this time, he started as a salesperson. Brady helped with jobs in-between appointments or afterward.
In early 2011 Brady’s father Mike wanted to semi-retire so, they switched positions. Brady moved to Sumter to work on the operations side and dad moved to Myrtle Beach to do sales.
Anderson Transfer has since expanded and built a new 11,000sq ft warehouse. We now have a total of 42,000sq ft of warehouse storage between 2 locations. We service anywhere within the lower 48. We have 4 salespeople that cover the entire state of SC, most parts of NC and northeast/Central GA. Our team is compiled of 40 full-time employees and 10 owner operators along with nearly 80 units of equipment, allowing us to service any move.
We take pride in the fact that we have been in business for over 65 years, serving award-winning moving services Sumter and the surrounding areas.
